Court Security Costs

Municipalities throughout Ontario have long argued that court security costs should not be a financial burden on property taxes. The criminal court system is owned and operated by the Province, and associated costs should be paid by Provincial revenue streams, not municipal. The EOWC and AMO were instrumental in Ontario’s Provincial, Municipal, Fiscal and Service Delivery Review that led to the phase-in of uploading court security costs off the backs of property taxpayers.
