It was my greatest pleasure to serve on the caucus to represent and advocate for all of Eastern Ontario’s one million residents.
Each year, the EOWC achieves many priorities that result in savings for property owners, and resolve for many issues of larger scale for all of Ontario. The year 2007 was an exceptional year achieving a four year, eighty million dollar Eastern Ontario Economic Development Fund from the government of Ontario and the Eastern Ontario Prosperity Plan presented to the Ontario government provided 51 policy-focused proposals on which the Provincial government could act, and benefit all of Eastern Ontario.
The EOWC was a key player during the Ontario government Provincial, Municipal, Fiscal and Service Delivery Review that led to the phase-in upload of almost 9.6 million dollars annually directly off the backs of Northumberland County property taxpayers.
The caucus and the Eastern Ontario Broadband Coalition were also instrumental in the Eastern Ontario Broadband Initiative that established the groundwork for the successful Provincial Ontario Municipal Rural Broadband Program (Northumberland County received one million dollars) and the new Eastern Ontario Regional Network that was recently awarded with up to 110 million dollars from the Federal and Provincial governments.
