Trent Hills Infrastructure Improvements

During the 2003 and 2006 Municipal Elections, we heard loud and clear that Trent Hills residents wanted their infrastructure repaired. To this end, we have done just that. Each year we have made significant headway in recapturing waste-water treatment capacity in Campbellford by continuing with our sewer speration programs. Our rural roads continue to rise in their condition index, and some previous gravel roads are now surface treated. Our downtowns continue to improve with new sidewalks, pavement, and energy efficient street lighting. Our Community Improvement Plan is starting to reflect our successful partnerships with merchants and property owners as our downtowns are becoming revitalized.

Hastings Village Marina

Our waterfronts in Campbellford and Hastings continue to improve each year. The purchase and removal of the old trailer park in downtown Hastings has complimented the Marina which is a huge economic driver for Hastings. Council’s commitment to the Marina has lead to a growing and successful attraction. Council’s business principles and strategies, along with dedicated Hastings community volunteers are the backbone of this municipal facility. The revitalization of downtown Hastings is paramount for me, as I see it as “the next big thing”.

Although many of the projects we have achieved may not be important to all residents, they are individualy important for the residents who live near them. As I mentioned, the following list is a partial list, and yet it is long and perhaps not very interesting to read. It does show however, where some of your property tax dollars have been invested.

Transportation Infrastructure Rehabilitation

In Trent Hills, we have an inventory of 535 kilometres of roads of which 254 Km’s are gravel, 232 Km’s are surface-treated (tar and chip) and 48 Km’s are asphalt.
